Arts Integration and STEAM: Learning in 3D
At Amma Mountain Academy, we don’t believe that science happens only in a lab or that art belongs strictly in a studio. The real world doesn’t live in separate boxes, and neither do our students.
By weaving Arts Integration and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) into the very fabric of our microschool, we transform standard lessons into hands-on, deeply memorable adventures that spark curiosity and a lifelong love for learning.
What This Looks Like in Our Classrooms
Instead of just sitting at desks or memorizing facts from a textbook, our young learners use their whole brains—and their hands—to explore the world. Here is how these frameworks come alive every day:
Science You Can Touch & Hear: A lesson on local wildlife doesn't stop at a picture book. Our students might study mountain birds, use simple math to measure wingspans, use instruments to mimic their calls, and sculpt clay nests to understand how animals build their homes.
Math and Engineering Through Play & Design: When learning about shapes, balance, or weight, our students become mini-engineers. They might build bridges out of blocks and craft sticks to see how much weight they can hold, practicing counting and measuring while discovering the beauty of design and architecture.
Reading and Social Studies Coming to Life: To deeply understand a story or a historical event, students don’t just write summaries. They step inside the narrative by putting on reader's theater plays, painting colorful murals of habitats they are studying, or composing simple songs to remember important concepts.
Why This Matters for Your Child
When the arts are woven into science and math, learning feels like a discovery, not a chore. Children who might feel intimidated by numbers find a welcoming doorway through creative expression. Meanwhile, our natural artists discover how beautifully their talents connect to logic and building.
In these foundational years, we aren't just teaching subjects; we are nurturing problem-solvers. We are teaching children how to think critically, collaborate with friends, and see the interconnected wonder of the world around them.
Young Entrepreneurs: Learning to Venture
This enrichment class is included in the 5 Day Program only. It can be added onto the 2 Day and 3 Day Program for an additional fee. Will include a 5% discount if added onto our 2 and 3 Day program.
Entrepreneurship isn’t just about starting companies; it is a skill set and a way of thinking. At Amma Mountain Academy we are passionate about empowering kids to innovate, create, and discover their potential. With our enrichment course designed for learners in grades 1-8, we are empowering kids to develop a mindset and “heart set” that they can use for a lifetime, no matter where their journey takes them in the future.
At Amma Mountain Academy, we believe that children are natural innovators. They look at the world with fresh eyes, see problems, and instinctively want to build solutions.
By pairing our experiential learning model with the world-class VentureLab curriculum, we turn our elementary classrooms into vibrant innovation hubs. In this enrichment class, your child won't just learn how a business works—they will develop an "entrepreneurial mindset," learning to think creatively, bounce back from mistakes, and pitch ideas with confidence.
What This Looks Like in Our Classroom
Instead of studying abstract business terms or staring at spreadsheets, our students become active creators and founders through hands-on games and collaborative projects. Here is how Entrepreneurship comes alive in our classroom:
Sparking Out-of-the-Box Creativity: We kick off our journeys with imagination games like This is Not (where kids transform ordinary objects into anything they can think of) and Wacky Inventions. Students will then design a pretend diner on a newly discovered planet to practice thinking outside the box!
The Power of the "Dream Team": To understand what it takes to be an entrepreneur, students watch videos of real-world young founders and build "Dream Team" posters. They test their team-building and engineering skills in the Marshmallow Challenge, working together to build the tallest tower out of simple materials.
Design Thinking & Market Research: Our young innovators step into the shoes of their customers. They use a framework called SCAMPER to brainstorm fresh ideas, speak directly with potential "customers" using surveys, and build physical prototypes out of basic crafting materials.
Building a Business Model (Beyond the Lemonade Stand): Students take a classic concept—the Traditional Lemonade Stand—and dissect how it works. They learn the real-world basics of planning, calculating costs, and discovering how businesses generate revenue and calculate profit. They then apply these exact principles to their very own original product or service idea.
Pitching with Confidence: Public speaking becomes a game, not a fear. Through The Art of Persuasion and fun voice and body language exercises, students learn how to command a room. They practice repeating fun, high-energy pitches to their peers, analyze video examples, and ultimately write and share their official pitch for their original invention.
Why This Matters for Your Child
Entrepreneurship isn't just about starting a business; it’s a framework for life. Through the VentureLab approach, your child will practice vital 21st-century skills: critical thinking, public speaking, collaboration, and financial literacy.
Most importantly, this curriculum normalizes failure as a necessary, exciting step toward success. When a prototype falls over or an idea doesn't work the first time, our young entrepreneurs don't give up—they look at the data, laugh with their team, and try a new way. We are nurturing the resilient, creative leaders of tomorrow.
